Do you think you know more about basketball than me? well let me tell you, basketball is usually played in an indoor court, in which two teams of 5 players each compete to score the ball in the basket. this sport is really fun if you know how to communicate and play fairly. "did you know it was first played by a soccer ball until they changed it in 1929.
                     basketball was invented by Dr.James Naismith. It all started in the YMCA training school. Dr. James had to come up with something to pump up the energy level of his students. he had many ideas, but first he had to set the rules. since the gymnasiums were in poor conditions, he came up with the idea of a peach basket. that's when everything started. That peach basket was nailed on a 10- foot elevated track. the basket didn't have a whole, so each time someone scored the ball you would have to go remove it yourself. That was really tiring, Dr.James decided to poke a whole under the basket. This peach basket was used until the year 1906. That same year they changed the peach basket to basketball hoops, they were made of metal and supported by backboards.
                  On January 20, 1892 was the first official game played, it was held at the gymnasium of YMCA. The first woman basketball game was held in Smith College during the year 1892. Senda Berenson who was also a physical education teacher just like Dr. James, she coached the woman's basketball. She modified some rules. the first woman's basketball game was on March 1893. when the woman's basketball first played, it was her freshman girls and sophomore. 
               Larry bird, Do you know who he is ? he was born December 7, 1956. he played for the Boston Celtics in 1978. He started as a small forward and power forward. he had those positions for 13 seasons. He was a great passer and a great shooter. he was a 12-time NBA All-Star. guess what ? he was also named the League's Most Valuable Player three times. Larry retired in 1992 due to back problems. Another great player is Earvin "Magic" Johnson he was born August 14, 1995. Earvin played point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. He won Four championships with the lakers during the year 19980. Magic Johnson retired in 1991 because he announced he had contracted HIV. something god happened he returned to play in 1992 for the All-Star game, he won the All-Star MVP award.
                        let me tell you more. Positions in basketball are really important. There's five different positions. the ones normally employed are forwards, guards, and the center. The five positions are point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center. Post play around the basket, the wings are ball handlers, they have a better outside shooting. Shooting Guards are responsible to play excellent defense. they also have to be a good weapon from long range. point guards are responsible to get their team into offence. Small forwards placement is between the key and three-point line. Power forwards are responsible for scoring from the low-block, they also need to be good re-bounders. Finally center, is normally occupied by the tallest member of the team.
