Paul William Bryant was born on September 11, 1913.
He was a legendary Alabama head coach. Before he arrived at Alabama he coached
at the university of Maryland, the university of Kentucky, and Texas A&M
university. He took over the Alabama football team in 1958. He coached at Alabama
for 25 years, he had 6 national winning titles. His all- time record as a head
coach was 323-85-17. He was an American college
football player. Paul also served the US Navy. He had two kids , it was one
daughter and one son. Paul hold the record for the most wins as head coach in
collegiate football history, he had 323 wins. Paul was known for his trademark
black and white houndsooth or gingham hat. Paul decided to retire after the
1982 season. Passing four weeks after
making his comment , he had checked in the hospital of Tuscaloosa after
experiencing chest pain. A day later he died after suffering a massive heart
attack. He died on January 26,1983.
